Dear Continental Tire Co...

Why on Earth did you decide to mold these little ribs into the tire’s bead surface, thereby causing sidewall leaks when installing your tires?

Signed,

FixBroke

Perhaps a tire shop that uses that black goopy sealer junk wouldn’t have sealing problems with these ribs, but as someone who as cleaned a lot of that old black goopy crap from wheels, it’s not something I’m keen on using.

What can I use instead…?

A Dremel with a sanding drum, that’s what! Two tires wouldn’t seal on the wheels, each with 32 little rubber ribs, for a total of 64 nubs sanded down.

On a positive note, for second-hand $10-per-tire all-seasons, these Continental ContiProContacts seem to stick to the pavement pretty well!
